APPLICATIONS & ESSAYS

What is the 'Common Application?'

The Common Application is a streamlined application process. The Common Application (CA) is accepted at over 900 colleges and universities. For a full list of the colleges and universities accepting the common app, click here. (As of Spring, 2022, they include OU, University of Tulsa, Oklahoma City University, Southern Nazarene Uni, Oral Roberts, University of Arkansas, Wichita State, and LOTS of Texas Schools, as well as all eight Ivy League schools.) However, some universities will require supplemental documents and/or essays. Make sure to familiarize yourself with the requirements for your selected colleges.

OF NOTE: At this time, Oklahoma State and UCO (Edmond) do not accept the common app.

Here are the Common Application steps:

1.) Create a Profile

2.) Add Colleges to Your List

3.) Gather Requirements

4.) Submit Applications

The best time to start writing your college application essay is the summer after your JUNIOR year. Don't wait until you are busy with your other courses.

Even if you are applying to non- common app schools, these essay prompts are a good place to start as they are likely VERY similar to the prompts from other universities.
